The Whole 30 : Sue vs. Lu - The Challenge Begins

I'm Lu...a slacker stay at home mom of 2 that needs to lose weight.  Sue is a health nut that thinks she needs to lose weight, but really doesn't.  Our weakness?  FOOD.  Yummy, delicious, evil, mouth watering food of any kind.  Sue has convinced me and our high school buddy, Lisa, to go on the Whole30.  This is a 30 day diet in which we eat only healthy, whole foods and cut out all the inflammatory, insulin-spiking, calorie-dense but nutritionally sparse food groups for a full 30 days.  So...that means:

- No sugar (my weakness)
- No processed foods
- No grains
- No legumes
- No dairy
- No alcohol
- No white potatoes

Sue and I will chart our progress and compare how much weight we can lose based on this diet and our exercise regime.  Sue is an exercise addict.  I will leave it her to describe it to you, but the words yoga, cross fit, and "almost crying/puking", comes into play.  I, on the other hand, am a lazy bum.  I walk my daughter to school each day (10 minutes each way) and play the occasional Nintendo Wii game that breaks a mild sweat.  I claim that chasing after two young kids is enough exercise, but I'm only kidding myself.

I am so excited to do this.  Unfortunately, I've also been gorging myself in all sorts of unhealthy foods in anticipation of the deprivation of junk food to come.  I look forward to the day where I no longer look like I'm 5 months pregnant (without actually having a bun in the oven)!
